New Delhi, January 19

"Mukhya mantri ji aisa hota rehta hai," Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said, looking at Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, after the crowds in Bengaluru greeted him with ""Modi Modi" chants at an event to inaugurate the new state-of-the-art Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) campus.

Built with an investment of Rs 1,600 crores, the 43-acre campus is Boeing’s largest such investment outside the US.

The Prime Minister also launched the Boeing Sukanya Program which aims to support the entry of more women from across India into the country’s growing aviation sector.

On the occasion where Siddaramaiah was on stage, the PM said Boeing’s new facility was a clear indication of Karnataka’s rise as a new aviation hub.

He also spoke of 15 percent of India’s pilots being women, which is three times more than the global average.

The PM added that a rapidly growing aviation sector is giving impetus to India's overall growth and employment generation.
