New Delhi, March 1

In a major boost to the BJP in Telangana, two sitting BRS MPs have joined the saffron party within 24 hours. After Pothughanti Ramulu, BRS Lok Sabha MP from Nagarkurnool (SC), joined the BJP on Thursday, Bheemrao Baswanthrao Patil, another sitting BRS MP, joined the BJP on Friday.

Patil is a two-time MP and Ramulu was elected to the LS for the first time in 2019. The BJP currently has four MPs of Telangana’s 17. The joinings are part of its plans to boost electoral prospects in south India, its weakest link.

“The joining of leaders reflects the changing political landscape and a clear sign of faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and his vision for Viksit Bharat,” BJP general secretary in charge of Telangana Tarun Chugh said after welcoming the leaders into party fold.
