With 7 more cases, Himachal count mounts to 400

Seven more tested positive for coronavirus today, taking the number of cases in the state to 400. The cases were reported from Kangra (four), Chamba (two) and Una (one.)

All patients in Kangra had returned from Delhi. Two of them belong to Baijnath and were kept in institutional quarantine.

Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said all four men had been shifted to the Covid containment unit at Baijnath. With the new cases, the number of cases in the district now stood at 105, with 54 active cases, 50 recovered patients and one death.

One patient, a driver, belonged to Bana village in Ghallaur panchayat of Jwalamukhi. He arrived from Delhi last week. He was kept at the institutional quarantine centre in Jwalamukhi.

Two persons tested positive for Covid in Chamba, taking the total number of infection cases in Chamba to 30. Dr Rajesh Guleri, CMO, Chamba, said the woman was asymptomatic and was being shifted to the Covid Containment Centre.

He said 88 samples were tested in Chamba of which 86 tested negative.

Baby’s samples taken in Sirmaur

Solan: A 25-year-old woman Covid patient, who had delivered a baby at Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College and left for her parents house in Haryana on June 4, was brought back to Sirmaur district and hospitalised at the Trilokpur Covid care centre.

DC, Sirmaur, Dr RK Pruthi said the health staff had also taken the baby’s samples and the report was expected today.

He said five doctors, 35 other staffers and four lab attendants were kept in home quarantine after the woman was reported Covid positive. Even the ward, where she was admitted and had delivered the baby, had been isolated.

The woman of Dakra village in Nahan was admitted to the medical college on May 29. She had delivered a baby the next day and tested Covid positive on June 4. She had left for her mother’s house at Mahmoodpur village in Yamunanagar after being discharged and her test reports were received later. — TNS
