Shimla, July 28

The state government today urged people to wear masks, both outdoors as well as indoors, to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

A presentation on the Covid situation in the state was made at the Cabinet meeting here today. The number of active cases today crossed 5,000, while the positivity rate was above 15 per cent.

The Cabinet expressed concern over the daily spike in the number of Covid cases and the high positivity rate and urged people to wear face masks in public places, government offices, educational institutions and indoor and outdoor gatherings, as a precautionary measure to check spread of the virus.

If the Covid cases continue to rise, the government could again make wearing of mask mandatory. The Covid cases have been rising steadily for the past some time.
