Two Covid deaths in Himachal, 81 cases take tally to 3,452

Two Covid patients died in the state today, taking the total number of fatalities due to the virus to 15, while the total of cases rose to 3,452 with 81 persons testing positive.

A 70-year-old patient belonging to Jawahar Nagar in Mandi became the 14th coronavirus casualty. He was suffering from multiple diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD.

He was admitted to the Zonal Hospital, Mandi, but had to be shifted to the medical college when his condition deteriorated. Dr Jeevanand Chauhan, Senior Medical Superintendent of the medical college, Mandi, said that his sample was found positive later.

Another Covid patient from Baddi, who was referred to the IGMC two days ago, also died. Meanwhile, the highest number of 31 cases were reported in Solan, followed by 20 in Mandi, nine each in Hamirpur and Sirmaur, four in Kangra, three in Shimla, two each in Kinnaur and Kullu and one in Bilaspur.

31 infected in Solan

Thirtyone people, including 17 in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial belt, a doctor, two expectant mothers and a policeman, tested Covid-positive in Solan district on Monday.

Five cases were reported from Arki. A policeman, who is a direct contact of a Covid patient, also tested positive. A couple, whose son had earlier tested positive, an expectant mother and two others were also found infected.

A doctor from the ESI Hospital, Katha, five persons in Nalagarh and 11 in Baddi also tested positive.

20 catch virus in Mandi

As many as 20 coronavirus cases were reported in Seraj, Dharampur, Mandi Sadar and a few other parts of the district. Four members of a family tested positive in Mandi town.

According to the district health authorities, most of the cases were the primary contacts of Covid patients, and a few of them were in quarantine.

9 positive in Sirmaur

Nine persons in Nahan, two in Paonta Sahib, and one each in Shillai and Banor tested positive in Sirmaur district.

Four cases in Kangra

Four persons tested positive for coronavirus in Kangra district on Monday. A 38-year-old man from Sapralu village, near Jawalamukhi, with travel history of Delhi, a 53-year-old man from Sidhbari village, near Dharamsala, with travel history of Delhi, a 40-year-old man from Bharwara village, near Dehra, with travel history of Leh, and a 38-year-old man from Panzara village, near Nurpur, were found infected.
