Mandi, June 25

The Manali-Leh highway was opened to traffic today. The road was blocked from Sarchu to Leh.

A bridge was reportedly damaged on the highway 12 km beyond Sarchu two days ago, stopping the movement of Army and civilian vehicles on this route. The route is used by the Army to supply essential material to the soldiers, deployed on the border in Ladakh region.

A Border Roads Organisation team has repaired the damaged bridge.

Superintendent of Police, Lahaul-Spiti, Rajesh Dharmani said due to damage to the bridge, the movement of vehicles was halted for the last two days. “The highway has been opened to smooth traffic,” said the Superintendent of Police.
