Suspected case of monkeypox in Baddi

A suspected case of monkeypox has been detected in Housing Board’s phase-II Colony at Baddi where a youth has developed follicles and rashes on his hands and feet.

The youth, who works in Chandigarh, returned to Baddi yesterday and approached health officials, who isolated him after a check-up. He has been ill for the past one month. Samples have been sent for lab analysis for confirming the disease.

SDM, Nalagarh, Mahendra Pal said health officials had been directed to make people aware about the disease. The primary contacts of the patient had been advised to get themselves examined.

The Baddi police had been directed to ensure that the patient was isolated. A call centre had been created for reporting such cases on 01795-223024.
