Snowfall in Shimla, Kothi

Shimla, March 6

High altitude and tribal areas received another spell of snowfall today while low and middle hills were lashed by intermittent rain. Gondla received 8 cm of snow, followed by Kothi 7 cm, Khadrala 6 cm and Kalpa 1.5 cm. Shimla also received traces of snowfall, followed by rain.

Solan with 28 mm of rain was the wettest in the region, followed by Una 26 mm, Sangrha 24 mm, Kasauli 21 mm, Rajgarh 19 mm, Renuka and Amb 18 mm each, Kothi 17 mm, Banajar 16 mm, Ghamroor and Kheri 14 each, Nadaun, Manali and Dharampur 13 mm each, Nurpur 12mm, Jhandutta 10 mm, Dharamsala, Kangra and Dheragopipur 9 mm, Kumarsain, Paonta, Berthin and Shimla 7 mm each, Seobagh 6 mm, Guler, Nagrota Suriyan, Berthin and Nahan 5 mm each.

The local Met office has issued orange warning for six districts — Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur. It has predicted wet spell in the region till March 12, barring March 8 and 9.

The maximum temperatures further decreased by 3 to 4 degrees and Una was the hottest with 18.6°C. Keylong was the coldest with -6.0°C.
