Shimla, June 18

Shruti Kashyap, a student of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Rampur Bushahr in Shimla district, is a topper with 98.2 per cent in arts stream of class XII board examinations conducted by Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education.

The girl believes that there is "no shortcut for success" and "hard work".

“Social issues and reforms have always interested me. My dream is to become an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer so that I get an opportunity to serve the people and the society", said Shruti.

Attributing her success to strategy, vision, action, determination and self-confidence, she thanked her parents, elder brother, school management and teachers for their constant support and corporation.

“I am planning to pursue Political Science (Hons) from a reputed college in Delhi and will appear in competitive examinations thereafter,” she told The Tribune.

Daughter of Bhuvnesh Kashyap— an executive engineer in PWD—and Usha Kashyap—a housewife, Shruti maintains that though her family has high expectations from her there was no pressure from them.

Shruti is an all-rounder.

She loves singing and dancing. She utilized the lockdown period to learn cooking as well.

Meanwhile, two blind girls of Government Girls Senior Secondary school, Potmore Shimla, Shalini and Rajni Negi also secured 84.80 and 82.60 per cent respectively.
