Mohali, January 5

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar and his family members, who had been admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Mohali for treatment for Covid-19, are likely to be discharged on Thursday evening.

A spokesman for the hospital said Shanta Kumar and his family members were doing fine and could be discharged on Thursday evening or Friday morning. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been calling regularly to enquire after his health.

Shanta Kumar’s wife Santosh Shailja had died due to complications related to the coronavirus in the early hours on December 29. A day after, the 86-year-old leader and his son Vikram Sharma were admitted to the Fortis Hospital on December 30 as a precautionary measure. — TNS
