Agnipath scheme: SFI burns PM Modi's effigy

Activists of the SFI on Thursday burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to register their protest against the Agnipath scheme. The SFI said the scheme was anti-youth and against national security. The SFI further said BJP leaders were making irresponsible comments, such as appointing 'Agniveers' as guards outside the BJP offices, to justify the scheme.

Book fair from June 25

National Book Trust (NBT) will organise a book fair in collaboration with the state's Department of Language, Art and Culture from June 25 to July 3 at Gaiety Theatre and Padam Dev Complex. The fair will see participation of 43 publishers from across the country. Apart from Hindi and English, books published by NBT and other publishers in Himachali, Punjabi, Urdu and other languages will also be avaialbe at the fair.

Weightlifting meet concludes

The National Women Ranking Weightlifting Tournament concluded at Rainbow International School, Nagrota Bagwan in Kangra district. Minister for Sports Rakesh Pathania was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The chief guest awarded medals and trophies to the best lifters in Youth, Junior and Senior Women Categories.
