SFI against GST on education

The SFI has submitted a memorandum to Education Minister Govind Thakur, wherein it has expressed disapproval against the state government's proposal to levy 18 per cent GST on education. Demanding that the proposal should be withdrawn, the SFI also questioned the government’s haste to implement the New Education Policy (NEP) in the state and demanded its withdrawal. The students’ body alleged that the Centre was trying to centralise and privatise education through the policy. Besides, the SFI demanded that a girls’ hostel should be constructed at Government College, Sanjauli.

Discussion on NEP at Sanjauli college

A special discussion on the New Education Policy (NEP) was held at Government College, Sanjauli. Education Minister Govind Thakur was the chief guest. Stating that teachers gave a direction to society, the minister said they would play a vital role in implementing the NEP at the grassroots. State Higher Education Council president Sunil Gupta threw light on every aspect of the policy. The participating teachers also raised their doubts and gave suggestions regarding the policy.

Check Irregularities in varsities: ABVP

The ABVP said it had been raising its voice against the irregularities in private universities since 2008, and it was because of its efforts that universities such as Manav Bharti had been caught and an action had been initiated against them. ABVP's Rahul Rana claimed that many universities in the stat were still involved in such practices and they too should be brought to book and derecognised.

Last date to fill form extended

The last date for filling online application form for admission to MA in defence and strategic studies has been extended up to September 25.
