Mandi, June 29

Seven office-bearers of the Mandi district Congress resigned from their posts today. They were the supporters of senior Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur and former HPCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.

They targeted state Congress chief Kuldeep Rathore for his style of functioning.

Dipak Sharma, former president of the District Congress Committee, Mandi, said since Rathore was selected as the HPCC chief, he started ignoring senior leaders of the Congress and their supporters.

Rathore had given key organisational posts to those who were earlier members of the Himachal Vikas Congress and the BJP. He tried to dominate the Congress. Rathore was trying to strengthen himself for political gains.

“Rathore has good relations with Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. He had demanded security from the CM. Earlier, when the CM had raised a question over the spending of Rs 12 crore in the state by the Congress to deal with the Covid crisis, Rathore had threatened to sue him. But the HPCC chief did not file any defamation case against the CM till date,” said Dipak.

Those who resigned from their posts are Dipak Sharma, Jeevan Thakur, Jagdish Reddi, Champa Thakur, Suman Chaudhari, Veena Sharma and Sonia Sharma.
