Seminar on aviation at St Bede’s College

A seminar on aviation was held by Anupam Vohra, Mani Singh (master trainer) and Bhumanjay Singh (master trainer) from Fly Your Dream at St Bede’s College on Monday. Speakers talked about various benefits of jobs in the hospitality sector. They also took up students’ job-related queries. Later, they conducted an interview for the recruitment of air hostesses. For the job, a person must have minimum height of 5’2,good communication and hospitality skills.

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti was celebrated at DAV Public School in Gohju. Principal Jaidev Sharma spoke about the symbolic meaning of the 10 principles of Arya Samaj and motivated the students to be virtuous in order to live a peaceful life. He said Dayanand Saraswati was a spiritual leader and Hindu monk from India, who founded the Arya Samaj, an Indian religious movement, established in 1875 to promote values and Vedas. The students delivered speeches.

Rally on water conservation

NCC cadets of Government College, Una, on Monday took out a rally in the city, spreading awareness on water conservation. Later, college principal Trilok Chand called upon the cadets and other students to begin water conservation from the college campus itself. Assistant NCC officer of the college Ashwani Kumar was also present.

Experts tell ‘Stories Across Borders’

A day-long international seminar on “Stories Across Borders” was held at Shoolini University, where delegates included, senior academicians from the USA, Poland, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh discussed various aspects of literature. Prof Manju Jaidka, author and well-known educationist, who recently joined the university as a senior professor, welcomed guests. Senath Walter Perera, senior professor in English, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, spoke of exoticism in the Sri Lankan Novel of Expatriation. Daniel Kalinowski from the Pomeranian University in Slupsk (Poland) talked about Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk, a writer who constantly refers to the intellectual and spiritual dimensions of femininity. Dr Adela Kuik-Kalinowski from Pomeranian University in Slupsk (Poland), highlighted Cyprian Kamil Norwid (1821-1883), considered the last of the four most important Polish romantic poets. Ahmed Ahsunuzzamun from Bangladesh elaborated on Hemanga Biswas’s songs on Bengal Partition, while Hemraj Kafle, associate professor and head, department of management informatics and communication, Kathmandu University, Nepal, talked about “Contemporary Nepali Writing in English”. Khagendra Acharya, assistant professor, Kathmandu University, Nepal, and Tirtha Raj Ghimire, head, faculty of English, Fluorescent Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu, Nepal, discussed “Combatants’ Experience Across the Border”.

10 students given laptops

Ten students of DAV Public School, Manai, got laptops from the Himachal Board of School Education, Dharamsala. From Class X, merit-holders included Ayush Kumar, Ashish, Artik Thakur, Aniket Dhiman, Sahil Sharma, Divyanshu and Nitin. From Class XII, merit-holders were Prashant Dhiman, Kailash Rana and Nandini Sharma. Principal Dinesh Kaushal congratulated the students and teachers on their dedication and performance.
