Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri presided over a ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme at Raipur Sahoran village in the Una Assembly segment today. He heard 77 public grievances and resolved most of them while referring the remaining to the departments concerned.

He said that private land for a corridor around Mata Chintpurni temple and expansion of the shrine premises had been acquired and the work on the project would be initiated soon. The Mubarikpur-Chintpurni road stretch would be illuminated with LED lights. Online booking for performing yajna or getting ‘prasad’ had already been initiated.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that Rs 100 crore would be spent on providing safe drinking water from the Bhabour Sahib project on the Sutlej to the residents of Sanoli, Poona, Binewal, Ajouli and Malukpur villages in Una along the Punjab border. Besides, Rs 19 crore would be spent on a rainwater drainage scheme designed for these five villages, he added. Later, Agnihotri inaugurated a drinking water scheme at Bangarh village.

He said the previous BJP government had left a debt of Rs 92,000 crore but still the Congress government ensured development in the state despite the natural calamity last year. He added that the state government was providing a relief of Rs 7 lakh each to families that had lost their homes in the rain disaster.

Agnihotri said that the government had initiated the ‘Sukh Ashray’ scheme to adopt orphans and 4,000 children had already been adopted. The beneficiaries were being given free education, pocket money, land, financial aid for the construction of house and festival bonus, besides other benefits.
