Rs1.76 crore to promote fisheries in Hamirpur

A sum of Rs 1.76 crore will be spent to encourage fisheries in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. This was stated by DC Harikesh Meena here yesterday, after the scheme review meeting.

He said the objective of the scheme was to double the income of fish producers in the district.

He said the government would provide 40 per cent grant-in-aid to the general category and 60 per cent to the women and the Scheduled Caste categories.

He said the unit cost of fish production would be Rs 12 lakh and Rs 27.28 lakh would be spent this year. He said the funding would be done for establishing a fish kiosk, an ice box unit with a bike, a three-wheeler, a micro fish feed mill, an ice plant, an insulated vehicle, a clean water fish hatchery, a rearing pond and a bio-flask pond.

The meeting was attended by Fisheries Assistant Director Lavan Kumar, Senior Fisheries Officer Neetu Singh, Agriculture Deputy Director Jeet Singh Thakur and Project Officer KD Kanwar.
