Rs 99 lakh farm equipment distributed in Hamirpur

As many as Rs 99 lakh agricultural equipment was given to farmers from Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the district for crop diversification.

The project had encouraged farmers who were leaving farming due to lack of farm laborers and other resources in the district. The equipment was given for agriculture mechanization so that farmers could cultivate their land holdings with minimum available labour.

Dr Vinod Kumar Sharma, director of the project, said that machinery worth Rs. 99 lakh was given to 32 farmers. He said that farm implements were given to farmers through farmer development associations.

Dr Sharma said that farmers were provided tractors and other agricultural implements as per their requirement in lift irrigation projects in villages like Guhal and Rehjol under JICA project.

He said that Farmers Development Association of Guhal and Rehjol had not only provided agricultural equipment at affordable rates to the farmers but is also moving towards self-reliance by earning income.
