Review decision to open borders: IMA

Palampur, July 9

The Palampur Chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) today appealed to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to review the decision to allow the entry of tourists to the state with a prior five-day hotel booking and a Covid-negative certificate.

Its president Dr Ashwani Milap, while talking to mediapersons here today, said that allowing tourists to visit the state was being viewed as a disruption to the calibrated efforts to ramp up the preparations to check the spread of Covid and resource management by the administration and health care workers during the past four months.

He said it was not an appropriate time for inviting tourists to the state when the threat of the pandemic still existed and the number of Covid cases had doubled in the past fortnight. — OC
