Remdesivir vials go missing from Kullu hospital

Thirty-six vials of Remdesivir injections, used for treating Covid infection, have gone missing from the regional hospital of Kullu. The hospital authorities lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday that 36 vials of Remdesivir, which were kept in a store which was accessible to only doctors and staff, had gone missing. Kullu SP Gaurav Singh said injections had gone missing from the store which was under CCTV surveillance. He said a case under Section 406 of IPC had been registered and an investigation was underway.

This is the first case of missing essential drugs from the hospital and the suspicion is on the staff. The cost of each injection is reported to be around Rs 736. Dr Neena Lal, Medical Superintendent, Kullu Regional Hospital, says she informed the police as soon as the matter came to the fore. — OC
