Bilaspur, October 16

Residents of the town started a protest against the construction of a mortuary at the Regional Hospital yesterday. A number of social and welfare organisations joined the agitation.

Sandeep Sankhyan, general secretary of the District Congress Committee, said everyone in the town was against the construction of the mortuary at the entrance of the hospital. Even the local MLA had assured them that the mortuary would be constructed at a different location. Seema Sankhyan, chairperson, Ladali Foundation, and Bijli Mahant of the Ardhanarishwar Sansthan, said the mortuary at the entrance was not a positive sign for the people coming for treatment. They said despite running from pillar to post to shift the location of the mortuary, none paid heed to the demand.
