Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today reviewed the final preparations for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the Atal Tunnel Rohtang on October 3. He visited the public meeting venue at Sissu in Lahaul, north and south portals of the tunnel, the SASE helipad in Manali and rally venue at Solang Nullah near Manali.

Later, he held a meeting with senior officers. He said fool-proof arrangements must be made for ensuring the success of the event. He laid stress on social distancing and comfortable stay of the visiting ministers, mediapersons and dignitaries.

He said the tunnel was an important achievement from the strategic point of view. The tunnel would open a new opportunity in the field of agriculture, tourism and horticulture.

He said hoardings must be erected in such a way that they did not obstruct scenic beauty of the area. He directed the officers to ensure coordination among various departments.

Earlier, Thakur also met with BRO officers at the north portal. Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur, MLA Banjar Surender Shourie, Political Adviser to the Chief Minister Trilok Jamwal, Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, and DGP Sanjay Kundu were also present.
