Nurpur, December 6

An NGO is making concerted efforts to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the hill state for the present and future generations.

Chairperson of Samarpan Association, an NGO in Kangra district, Anita Sharma has appealed to the state government to take initiatives to preserve the state’s cultural heritage. Expressing concern over the loss in traditional customs and rituals, she said that if these were not revived on time then people would end up forgetting these.

Sharma further added that man and culture were an inseparable part of the society. “In fact, culture maintains order and helps maintain balance with the Nature,” she asserted.

Samarpan Association chairperson said that the Tribal Society of Himachal Pradesh was an enigma to the world of culture and heritage and the tribal communities were representing an important social category of Indian social structure. “They are considered as the original inhabitants of the country, who carry forward a legacy of rich and distinct cultural traits for many decades,” she pointed out.
