Pratibha Singh: Expedite works under MPLAD Fund in Mandi villages

State Congress president Pratibha Singh has directed the officials concerned to speed up development works sanctioned under the MPLAD Fund in various panchayats of Mandi district. She also asked them to complete all formalities related to pending projects so that work could be started on them soon.

Pratibha presided over a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee ‘’Disha’’ here. She reviewed the implementation of Centrally-sponsored schemes and gave instructions for accelerating the pace of development works. She also took stock of development works under the MPLAD Fund block wise and asked the officials concerned to remove hurdles in their implementation.

The Mandi MP said, “There is need to immediately repair and upgrade the Mandi-Kamand-Bajaura-Kullu road as an alternative route to the Mandi-Pandoh-Kullu National Highway. This road is important for maintaining the supply chain of essential food items in case of an emergency and for the movement of passengers. For this, the Public Works Department has prepared a detailed project report of Rs 12 crore.”

She said, “I have requested Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to issue a special grant for the upgrade of the Mandi-Kamand-Bajaura-Kullu road.”

Pratibha directed the officials concerned to expeditiously complete all works under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana along with the convergence of various schemes in Naun gram panchayat of Gohar development block and Chauntra gram panchayat. She directed the officials concerned to coordinate with public representatives in the construction of the Hamirpur-Kotli-Mandi highway project and understand and resolve the problems of the people of the Kotli area.

Besides a playground at Talyar school, she asked the officials concerned to address complaints related to roads, ponds etc. of the villagers. She said that works under MGNREGA had been given priority to compensate for losses suffered in rural areas due to the rain disaster last year. As many as 74,107 works of Rs 945 crore had been approved under MGNREGA in Mandi district and work on 24,162 projects had started.

The MP said that about Rs 8.38 crore had been spent in the first and second phases of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the district during 2023-24.
