Prashar Lake in Mandi district to be developed as tourist spot: CM Jai Ram Thakur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over the closing ceremony of Saranahuli Mela at Prashar in Mandi district today. While addressing a gathering on the premises of Prashar Rishi temple, the Chief Minister said that Saranahuli Mela had immense importance from spiritual, tourism, entertainment and trade point of view.

He said that the state government had made every possible effort to ensure road connectivity in the area to boost tourism and for conservation of fairs and religious belief of the area.

The Chief Minister announced the upgrade of Government Middle School, Khalbut, to high school, inclusion of the Prashar area under the Nai Rahein Nai Manzilein scheme for tourism purpose and the construction of a Mukhya Mantri Lok Bhavan.

The Chief Minister said “the construction work of Jwalapur-Prashar road with an outlay of Rs 17 crore, improvement of Mandi-Katola-Bajora road with an expenditure of Rs 15 crore and construction of Tihari-Kalang-Prashar-Pantos road with an expenditure of Rs 7 crore was under progress.”

“The work to improve the condition of the Ghatasani-Barot road with an outlay of Rs 25 crore and the construction of a mini-secretariat at Padhar at a cost of Rs 18 crore and the building of Narala College at a cost of Rs 10.73 crore was under progress. Besides, Rs 81 crore was being spent on drinking water supply to 23 gram panchayats of the area,” he said.

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, an amount of Rs 35.20 crore has been sanctioned for constructing 10 roads in the first phase. The construction work of four roads has been completed and the work on six was under progress in Darang Assembly constituency,” said the Chief Minister.

“In the second phase an amount of Rs 50.78 crore has been approved for the construction of 10 roads. The construction work of five roads has been completed and construction work on five roads was under progress. Under NABARD, six roads at a cost of Rs 43.84 crore were under construction,” he added.

Thakur said that “an amount of Rs 85.47 crore has been sanctioned for the construction work of 47 buildings of education, PWD, animal husbandry, finance, technical education, ayurvedic and administrative departments, besides police, and health departments in Drang area. Out of these, construction work of 23 buildings has been completed and work on 24 projects was in progress.”

Earlier, the Chief Minister paid obeisance at the Prashar Rishi temple. MLA Drang Jawahar Thakur detailed about various development works in the area and thanked the CM for various projects in the area.
