Poultry samples collected from Kullu market

KULLU, JANUARY 12

The Department of Animal Husbandry has collected 60 samples of poultry from farmers and market as a part of routine surveillance in the wake of bird flu scare.

Dr Sanjeev Nadda, deputy director, animal health and breeding, Kullu, said these samples would be sent to Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Jalandhar.

There were no symptoms of avian influenza in the poultry and poultry population was healthy in the district. He said that five rapid response teams had been constituted and quick response teams of veterinary hospitals were monitoring the situation.

Clinical surveillance was being carried out in poultry farms and chicken shops. He appealed to the farmers not to panic and cooperate with the district administration and animal husbandry department. — OC
