Shimla, August 11

The Congress had been repeatedly questioning the elections of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) even after Chief Minister Jairam Thakur made it clear that the poll would not be deferred, said Ram Singh, BJP state vice-president.

In a release issued here yesterday, he said Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and state Congress chief Kuldeep Rathore were unaware of the ground reality that Himachal was doing better than the neighboring states in containing the pandemic.

He said the state had suffered a loss of Rs 30,000 crore during the lockdown and the liabilities had also increased. However, the government had not made any deduction in the salaries of employees, he added. — TNS
