Palampur university student gets doctoral scholarship in US

Palampur, August 7

A MSc student, Jabez Raju, of the Entomology Department of the College of Agriculture, the Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University (HPAU) has been selected for a scholarship for doctoral studies in the Biological Sciences Department of the Clemson University, the USA.

Raju will be get a grant of Rs 21 lakh per annum by the US government for the next 6 years. He will be pursuing research in insects and cancer. The university VC Professor HK Chaudhary congratulated and felicitated Raju. It was a great honour for the university that its student had been selected for such a prestigious scholarship, he said.

Raju credited the achievement to his parents, his mentors Dr B Subramaniam, Dr S Dayakar and MSc research guide Dr Prem Chand Sharma. Raju had graduated from the Agriculture University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He then cleared the national test of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research with a scholarship to get admission in MSc at the HPAU.
