Palampur, June 28

Ram Chand and Gittan Devi of Raunkhar village in Kangra district today requested Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to intervene and get their son Vijay Kumar released.

He had been detained in Saudi Arabia after an accident on the construction site when he was operating a machine.

In a letter written to Thakur, the parents said they had been making endless efforts since 2011 to get their son back to India, who had been working in Almohar Trading and Construction Company in Saudi Arabia. They said a court had imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Vijay but neither he, nor they had the amount to pay the fine. His passport had been impounded by the court.

The parents have also made an appeal to the public and charitable institutions to donate so that they could collect the amount for the release of their son.
