Palampur, October 31
The district administration has completed the process for the creation of 15 wards in the newly formed Palampur Municipal Corporation.
Palampur SDM Dharmesh Ramotra, while briefing mediapersons here today, said 15 wards had been created in the new municipal corporation by merging 14 panchayats of the satellite areas of Palampur. He added the corporation would have a total area of 14.96 sq km and a total population of 40,385, as per the Census of 2011. No Census has been done after 2011, though the town has registered a steep rise in population.
The SDM said that the administration had also received requests from Bhatrka and Nachher villages, which are part of Bundla panchayat, for their inclusion in the new municipal corporation. These villages were earlier left out due to the objections of the panchayat pradhan. Their requests had been forwarded to the state government, he added.
