Online teaching at JP university

Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, has initiated the procurement of G-Suite platform, on which Google classrooms and meets are being conducted. As many as 30 classrooms have been modified into online classes and a screen time of maximum four hours has been legislated. Vice-Chancellor Vinod Kumar said in the view of the lockdown, the university conducted Artificial Intelligence-based proctored online exams in June, 2020 for all batches. The results were declared and the pass-outs were issued provisional degree certificates. He added the teacher-student-parents communique is extremely important and student mentors from each department are in regular touch with the students and their parents.

Poor arrangement at exam centres: NSUI

The NSUI has asked the state government and the HPU to provide all the required facilities to the students appearing for the PG exams. Alleging that the administration had not made proper arrangements at the examination centres, the NSUI said even sanitiser was not available at several centres. The students’ body urged the government and the HPU to sanitise the centres regularly and take steps to ensure the safety of students.

Chaturvedi heads Chair at HPU

Professor Manoj Chaturvedi has assumed the charge of head of the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay Chair at the Himachal Pradesh University. A writer, journalist and social worker, Professor Chaturvedi has worked at different places in various capacities. He has several books and research papers to his credit. For the last 30 years, he has been involved in writing and social work, besides having a long stint in journalism.

Forum seeks mobile phones for poor

The Student-Parent Forum has asked the state government to provide mobile phones to poor students to enable them to attend online classes. The forum has requested the government to deduct the amount needed to buy a mobile phone and a data plan from the total fee of the student. Forum convenor Vijender Mehra said poor students were facing a lot of trouble in attending online classes, and many parents had to take loan to buy phones.
