To restore ancient knowledge system

The policy will help in restoring and adopting the lost Indian knowledge system contained in the Vedas, Purans and ayurveda. It will give students freedom to choose the subjects according to their interest.

He said the IIAS was a globally acclaimed institute, and the government was proud of it.

“The government is standing in full support to take this institute ahead and attain greater heights and academic excellence,” he said. In his address, Dr Yogendra Nath ‘Arun’ said India got the new policy after a wait of 34 years.

“The focus of the policy is to promote the rich Indian culture, religion and art through national, local and regional languages,” he said.

He said it was the first real National Education Policy which would help restore and adopt the lost Indian knowledge system contained in the Vedas, Purans and ayurveda.

It would give students the freedom to choose the subjects according to their interest, he added.

Director, IIAS, Prof Makarand R Paranjape delivered the introductory remarks and spoke about future development and maintenance plans. Prof Kapil Kapoor, Chairman, IIAS, was also present.
