Mohammad Rafiq sworn in as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court

Justice Mohammad Rafiq was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court in Shimla today.  He was administered the oath of office by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan.

Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh conducted the proceedings of oath ceremony. 

Justice Rafiq was appointed as Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on May 15, 2006. He also worked as Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court twice. He was elevated as Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya on November 13, 2019, and remained there till April 26, 2020. 

He was transferred to the Orissa High Court on April 27, 2020, and then to the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on January 3, 2021.

  Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Judges of the High Court, Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, GoC-in-C, ARTRAC Lt Gen Raj Shukla, Advocate General Ashok Sharma, chairmen of various commissions, DGP Sanjay Kundu, chairmen and vice-chairmen of various boards and corporations, V-Cs, senior officers and other prominent people were also present.

A Guard of Honour was also presented to the newly appointed Chief Justice.
