Minister: Rs 170 crore sanctioned for development in Shimla Rural

PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh today inaugurated the new building of Government Senior Secondary School, constructed at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore at Chanavag in the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency.

He credited former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for making an allocation for the building in 2015, the work on which had slowed down during the BJP regime for want of funds. “Efforts are on to provide all government schools with latest facilities for sports, library and cultural activities to ensure physical and mental development of children, which will help keep them away from drugs,” he added.

The minister said during the one-year tenure of the present government, Rs 170 crore had been sanctioned for various development works in the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency. This includes construction of roads, drinking water, electricity, sewerage facilities as well as construction of Panchayat Ghar.

“Under the PM Gramin Sadak Yojana, Rs 14 crore is being spent for the expansion and paving of Shananghati-Dadgi-Naggar-Mand link road, the construction work of which will be started soon. He said under the Shimla Rural Drinking Water Scheme, a project has been approved for Chanavag and Nehra panchayats at a cost of Rs 2 crore, with 70 per cent work already complete.

He said efforts were on to provide clean drinking water to every home. “An amount of Rs 25 crore will be spent to provide adequate drinking water in the Sunni nagar panchayat area and the vacant posts of teachers in other schools, including Chanavag School, will be filled soon,” he added.

He said all demands put forward by the school management and the local panchayat head would be fulfilled. School Principal Baldev Sharma presented the annual report.
