Met: Rain, snow in Himachal on November 15, 16 to end dry spell

Farmers and power producers heaved a sigh of relief today as the local MeT office forecast rain and snowfall in the state on November 15 and 16 after a prolonged dry spell of about two months.

“A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from November 13 onwards. Rain and snow are likely in Himachal Pradesh on November 15 and 16,” it said.

Lower and mid hills have received no rainfall since mid-September and post-monsoon. The rain deficit between October 1 and November 10 was 79 per cent, while 26 per cent rain deficit was recorded during the monsoon. The region received 7 mm of rainfall against the normal of 32.8 mm. — TNS
