Medical devices park to come up in Nalagarh

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving a medical devices park for Himachal Pradesh.

Thakur said that the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India, had notified the guidelines of the scheme promotion of medical devices park, which invited preliminary project proposals from various states for setting up of four medical devices parks in the country.

He said that the proposal submitted by Himachal Pradesh was found highly competitive and the medical devices park was sanctioned under which the state would get grant-in-aid of Rs 100 crore for developing the facility.

He said that the park would be developed at Nalagarh in Solan district where a piece of land measuring 265 hectares had already been identified. The estimated cost of this park would be Rs 266.95 crore, out of which Rs 160.95 crore would be borne by the state government. He said the state was expecting an investment of over Rs 5,000 crore, with a turnover of Rs 20,000 crore and gainful employment for about 10,000 persons.

The Chief Minister said that this park would be first such set-up in northern India and would give big boost to second stage of industrialisation, apart from producing consumer goods. It would also have industries producing capital goods such as plants and machinery.

To provide jobs to 10,000 persons

• The park will be developed at Nalagarh where land measuring 265 hectares has already been identified.
• The estimated cost of the park will be Rs266.95 crore and Rs160.95 crore will be borne by the state government.
• The state is expecting an investment of over Rs5,000 crore with a turnover of Rs20,000 crore and gainful employment for about 10,000 persons.
