Shimla, January 30

The local residents of Kanlog ward under Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) have demanded the restoration of road that was damaged during the devastation caused by torrential rains during the monsoon season last year.

The demand was raised during the visit of Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surinder Chauhan’s visit to the ward, who assured them that the road would be restored soon.

The Mayor today kicked off his programme in which he will be visiting every ward of the town to listen and resolve the grievances of the local residents.

Today he visited Kanlog and Khalini wards where he also took stock of the developmental works that are being undertaken in the wards besides listening to the grievances of people. He was accompanied by Alok Pathania and Chaman Prakash, Councillors of Kanlog and Khalini wards.

Talking to The Tribune, Chauhan said he had started this programme named “Mahapaur Aap Ke Dwar” on the lines of “Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar” programme that is being run by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu. “My endeavour is to reach out to local residents through this programme so that they I can get to know their grievances and try to resolve them,” he stated.

He further said that he would visit Patiyog and New Shimla wards (Ward No 31 and 32) tomorrow. He will be accompanied by councillors Asha Sharma and Nisha Thakur during his visit.
