Solan,September 19

A 50-bed makeshift Covid hospital is being constructed by the Central Building Research Institute (CBIR) of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research at Nalagarh.

A team of CBIR officials inspected a site on the campus of the community health centre where a pre-fabricated structure would be raised to set up the hospital.

Such makeshift hospitals are being set up in Shimla, Tanda, Una and Nahan too. Solan district has registered the maximum number of Covid cases and the industrial cluster of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh is the major contributor.

Block medical officer Dr KD Jassal said 5,000 sq feet area had been inspected to erect the makeshift hospital.

An amount of Rs 80 lakh would be spent on the hospital where additional specialists and para-medical staff would be required. The staff availability would be a challenge for these hospitals.
