KULLU, OCTOBER 16

The low-key Dasehra celebrations will affect the businesses worth crores of rupees as outside traders will not be able to set up their stalls in the Dhalpur ground. The Kullu Dasehra Festival Committee has decided that no commercial activity will be permitted during the festival.

Local shopkeepers to benefit

  • People used to purchase coats, jackets, sweaters, cardigans, etc for winters, which were available at a cheaper price in these stalls
  • Quilts and blankets were also available at low cost
  • A large number of people from Lahaul and Spiti district also came for shopping during Dasehra
  • As the traders from other states will not come, it will benefit the local shopkeepers

People used to purchase coats, jackets, sweaters, cardigans, etc for winters, which were available at a cheaper price at these stalls. Quilts and blankets were also available at low cost.

But this time, people will have to spend more to buy winter clothings. This will have an impact on the common man. A large number of people from Lahaul and Spiti district also come for shopping during Dasehra.

The stalls remain on the Dhalpur ground even after one month of the culmination of the event. However, as the traders from other states will not come for Dasehra, it will benefit the local shopkeepers. The sale of local shopkeepers at Lower Dhalpur, Sarwari and Akhara Bazaar will increase significantly during the Dasehra and Diwali festivals.
