Shimla, January 31

Indian Youth Congress national in-charge Krishna Allavaru today slammed the BJP for allegedly rigging the Mayor elections in Chandigarh during the meeting of Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress here today. “If this is the situation in the Mayor elections, then what will be the situation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections?” he said.

“The BJP is expert in spreading lies. The public will decide the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and there is no need to be afraid of the BJP’s propaganda. Youth Congress workers will fight it out at every booth and present their views strongly,” he said.

He further said that nowhere else he had seen party workers being accommodated in the government as in Himachal Pradesh. “Soon, other workers will also be given space in the government,” he said. HPCC president Pratibha Singh had yesterday alleged that the party workers were not being given position in the government.

Allavaru further said that the state government had done good work in the last one year and this report card would be placed before the people. “The coming 100 days are very important and Youth Congress workers should gear up for the challenge,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the Congress ideology was strengthening the roots of democracy in the country. “The country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru showed the direction of making India self-reliant, while the foundation of the modern India was laid by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He brought communication revolution in the country. This is the reason why the CEOs of 30 big IT companies of the world are Indians,” he said. He appealed to the youth to come into politics, set goals and move forward by accepting challenges.

Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress president Nigam Bhandari said the Youth Congress workers were working to take the policies of the state government to every home. “The Youth Congress conveyed the policies of the previous BJP government to the people and showed the way out to the BJP. In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections also, Youth Congress workers will work hard and campaign vigorously in favour of the party’s candidates,” he said.
