Shimla, February 5

The Himachal Pradesh Unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) here on Monday gheraoed the Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) and demanded that the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) be implemented from the next academic session.

Apart from this, the ABVP also demanded that the VC fill the 200 vacant posts of teachers on priority. A bus service for the students was also demanded by the student body.

A delegation of the ABVP reached the VC office and raised their demands, after which the VC assured them that the policy would be implemented in the university soon.

ABVP joint secretary (HPU unit) Aman Aditi said if NEP is not implemented in the university, then the university — which was established in 1970 — would lag behind other universities in the country.

He said the NEP should be implemented immediately for the benefit of the students.

Many teaching and non-teaching posts are vacant in the university due to which students have to face lots of problem, he added.

He said the ABVP would launch a mass movement against the university authorities if these demands are not fulfilled immediately.
