HRTC to resume bus service to Atal Tunnel on Monday

The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) will resume its bus service till the south portal of the Atal Tunnel from Manali on Monday for the convenience of the residents of the Lahaul valley in Lahaul and Spiti district.

Mangal Manepa, Regional Manager of HRTC Depot at Keylong, said, “On Saturday, we inspected the Manali-Keylong road via the Atal Tunnel to resume the bus service. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) restored the road for traffic on Friday but at a few places it was found unfit for the movement of buses”.

He said, “We have requested the BRO to clear the snow at key points at Shashin, near the temple of deity Raja Ghepan and the Ropsang Nullah on the Manali-Keylong road. It is expected that till Monday, the road will be cleared for smooth traffic and the HRTC will resume its bus service”.

Manali SDM Raman Gharsangi said that tourist vehicles would be allowed up to the Solang valley in the coming days. He added that Lahaul and Spiti residents would be allowed to travel in local vehicles on the Manali-Keylong road between 10 am and 3 pm.
