Shimla, March 26

The Himachal Pradesh Government on Thursday extended the closure of all government offices, except those engaged in rendering essential services, till March 31 to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The government had earlier ordered closure of all government offices from March 23 to 26. Now in view of the prevailing situation, it was today decided to extend this period till March 31.

“The announcement comes in view of the urgency and importance of social distancing and isolation measures for the containment of the spread of coronavirus and breaking the chain of transmission by curtailing and limiting the movement of public at large to a bare minimum,” said RD Dhiman, Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Tourism).

They have, however, been asked to make themselves available for duty in case required in exigency by their respective controlling officer at a short notice.

The health and family welfare department has also requisitioned the services of all medical officers, faculty members and paramedical staff, who have retired or have been released from the military and paramilitary forces on temporary basis.

They however must be in possession of required educational and professional qualification for appointment to the post on temporary basis.
