NURPUR, APRIL 12

A girl (27) hailing from Shahjanpur district in Uttar Pradesh saved herself from being thrust into immoral activities by a hotel owner at Damtal in Kangra district. Sensing something amiss, the alert girl contacted district police headquarters late last night. A police team rushed to the spot and recovered the victim from the hotel room where she had been confined by the hotel owner. As per police information, hotel owner Janak Raj and his son Vijay Kumar, allegedly running immoral activities in the hotel, were arrested by the police last night.

DSP Nurpur said an FIR had been registered. “Apart from the complainant girl, the police team also rescued four girls,” he said.

In her statement, the victim alleged that the accused tried to force her into immoral sex trade. She stated that she had been working in a real estate company in Gurugram for the past several years.

The accused called her on her mobile and informed that her mobile number had been taken from the job.com site. She said the hotel owner offered her a job as a receptionist in the hotel with a good salary but when she reached Pathankot’s Chakki bridge in morning on April 10, a person took her to the hotel.

“On reaching the hotel she found four other girls under suspicious conditions. I tried to run away but the hotel owner forcibly locked her in a room. After that I informed my family and contacted the Kangra district police headquarters,” she said.
