Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today reviewed the preparedness to tackle various emergency situations arising from heavy rain in the state with DCs and SPs through video-conferencing from Shimla.

He directed the officers to make the fool-proof arrangements of disaster management following heavy rain and said an adequate number of people and machinery should be deployed in the vulnerable areas.

The Chief Minister directed to take steps in view of security at the camping sites on the banks of rivers. He said strict action would be taken against the officers for laxity in the disaster management.

He also instructed them to ensure the availability of the Quick Reaction Team. He said Emergency Operation Centres should be functional round the clock at the district and sub-division levels and said the roads affected due to landslides or heavy rain should be repaired immediately.

The CM directed them to encourage the tourists to take precautions while visiting the disaster-prone areas.

Thakur told the Deputy Commissioners to complete all preparations in a time-bound manner in view of the apple season. Steps should be taken to maintain the smooth traffic movement so that orchardists do not face any inconvenience.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the Covid situation in the state.
