Himachal government directs private schools to defer fee payment

Date extended to April 30

  • Director Higher Education Amarjeet Sharma said it has come to notice that some of the private schools have fixed March 30 as last date of depositing fees.

  • As it is not possible for the parents to deposit the fees due to epidemic situation, last date for depositing is extended till April 30 without any late fees.

The Himachal government today directed all the private schools not to charge fees from parents till April 30. Education minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that all the private schools affiliated with the CBSE, the ICSE and Himachal Board of School Education have been directed to defer fee payment as curfew is imposed in the state. He warned of strict action against erring schools.

In a letter to the managements of all the private school, Director Higher Education Amarjeet Sharma said it has come to notice that some of the private schools have fixed March 30 as last date of depositing fees. As it is not possible for the parents to deposit the fees due to epidemic situation, last date for depositing is extended till April 30 without any late fees.

There are about 1,623 private schools in Himachal, including 1,389 affiliated with Himachal Board of School Education, 205 with the CBSE, 28 with the ICSE and others with other board.

A large number of private schools have started online teaching through their apps to keep the students busy and up to date but the teachers preparing online lessons were of the view that how could assignments be given without teaching.
