Himachal Diary: Vikramaditya Singh vs Rakesh Pathania

Show comments

The ongoing tussle between Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania and Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri has another entrant, Shimla (Rural) MLA Vikramaditya Singh. He has joined the issue and warned Pathania to mind his language. Pathania and Vikaramaditya have had heated exchanges in the Vidhan Sabha in the past too. Out to settle old score, Vikramaditya has warned the minister, who hit out at the Virbhadra family on the issue of corruption, to mind his language. Nothing but falling standards of political discourse!

Helicopter sparks tug of war

Politics is a dirty game. It gets worse when politicians get personal. A recent remark by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur that “helicopter Mukesh ke tabbar ka nahin hai” and instant reply by Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri that “yeh helicopter kisiki saheliyon ka bhi nahin hai” has sparked a tug of war between the BJP and the Congress with activists of both parties defending their leaders. However, commoners are confused on the subject and left them wondering “helicopter government ka nahin tha?”

Political management companies

Some political leaders of the ruling party are hiring political management companies to guide them how to win the elections. Sources here said these companies were being paid a hefty amount to gauge the mood of voters at the booth level. Now it remains to be seen if the exercise bears any fruit for leaders.

Too much on the plate

Covid-19 is showing signs of resurgence. The Health Department will need to put its best foot forward to keep the infection in control. In the fight against coronavirus, Secretary, Health, has been the key official in the past. The current Secretary also holds the key posts like Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Excise and Taxation. There’s a feeling in health circles that if Covid goes out of control, will Secretary be able to devote enough time to health?
