The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) today observed the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as Farmers Rights Day.
Led by state Congress president Kuldeep Rathore, state Mahila Congress president Janeb Chandel and Shimla Urban president Jitendra Chaudhary, the Congress office-bearers and workers sat on a “fast for two hours” in front of India Gandhi’s statue on The Ridge.
Rathore paid respect to Indira and said whether it was the decision to nationalise banks or defeating Pakistan, it was all due to the decisiveness and her leadership.
He also paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and said he was a freedom fighter and the first Home Minister of independent India.
