Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal advised the participants of a bamboo craft training camp to use the skills that they had acquired for employment generation and boosting their incomes.

The camp organised under the Integrated Design and Technical Development Project by the Himachal Pradesh State Handicrafts and Handloom Board concluded on Monday. Participants in the camp were trained by Padma Shri awardee Kartar Singh Sonkhle, famous for for his skills of bamboo crafting.

Dhumal said the skill development was a cherished dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and government was focusing on training people for self reliance. The former Chief Minister said the women were fortunate that they were trained by the Padam Shri awardee.

Now, the women should create employment opportunities by further enhancing their skills and use the techniques to develop new products so that they can increase their family incomes, he added.
