Walked 330-KM On Foot

In search of work, a Nepalese covered 330 km on foot from Leh to reach Lahaul in Himachal Pradesh. He reached Darcha late Wednesday evening.

Putting his life at risk, he crossed rugged terrains covered with snow via the Tanglang pass and the Lachungla La from Leh towards Lahaul side.

At Darcha, the first village of Lahaul-Spiti from Leh side, he was detained by the district administration and taken to the Keylong district hospital for checkup.

His legs were swollen and the health authorities were surprised at seeing him covering such a long distance in freezing temperatures between Leh and Darcha, which is under a thick snow these days. There is no habitation until Darcha from Leh side and from Sarchu till the Himachal territory.

The man told the district administration that he had come to Leh from Delhi, but after finding no work, he moved to Himachal. He walked day and night for four days and reached Darcha late Wednesday evening.

Dr Paljore, CMO, Lahaul-Spiti, said the man was screened for Covid-19. His sample had been taken and he had been kept in the institutional quarantine under medical supervision.
