Fresh snowfall in higher reaches of Himachal

Kalpa recorded 24 cm of snow; Manali was wettest with 33 mm of rainfall

Tribal areas and higher hills today witnessed another spell of moderate snowfall while a storm accompanied by rain and snow lashed mid and lower hills.

Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district recorded 24 cm of snow, followed by Kothi (10 cm), Hansa, Keylong, Sangla, Udaipur and Gondla (5 cm each), Kharaptthar (2 cm) and Manali and Kufri (1 cm).

Manali was the wettest with 33 mm of rainfall, followed by Jubbal (16 cm), Bhuntar (8 mm), Dharamsala and Banjjar ( 6 mm), Seobagh, Reckong Peo and Wangtoo (4 mm), Nichar and Kotkhai (3 mm) and Shimla, Moorang and Sarahan (2 mm).

The day temperatures stayed six to 15 degrees below normal at many places.

Keylong recorded -1.6°C, seven degree below normal, while Kalpa, Manali and Dharamsala recorded the maximum temperatures at 2.2°C, 9.6°C and 5.0°C (11 degree below normal), Chamba 11.3°C (15 degree below normal, Dalhousie ( 4.4°C), 12 degree below normal, and Bhuntar 11.2°C (10 degree below normal).

The day temperatures stayed eight degree below normal in Chamba, Solan and Mandi, and six degree below normal in Shimla and Una.

The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region over the next five days.
